Danielle’s First 5k…

By: Danielle Lamanna

Back in January of this year, I received an invite from a group of friends to register for a 5k race in March. My immediate thought was…

“Imagine I could even run a 5k.”

I decided to just go for it and signed up.

Unsure of where to start or how to even begin training for a race like this, I reached out to Liz for some guidance. I decided to start her “Run Your First 5k” training program. It involved 8 weeks of training and took me right to race day.

Liz is one of the most involved trainers I have ever worked with, always checking in on my progress and holding me accountable each week. On top of that, she was there when I was struggling or wanted to give up and gave great advice on how to push forward.

We celebrated small wins together and before I knew it, I was surpassing the goals we had initially set together.

When it came to race day, with Liz by my side, I ended up running my very first 5k in under 30 minutes!! As that was my first race ever, I felt like I was on a high. In just 8 weeks I had completely exceeded anything I thought I was capable of.

Liz was there for me the entire training process and even continued to check in weeks after. I was so inspired and shocked by what she had helped me accomplish that I continued training, running even further and faster. A few weeks after the race, I ran my first 10k in UNDER an hour!!!

With Liz’s constant motivation, support, and guidance, she has helped me believe that I am capable of achieving whatever I set my mind to. Together, I am excited to see what more I can accomplish and see what the rest of the year has in store for me!
